Have you heard of Zumba? The hip-hop, Latin infused work-out that middle aged women like me are swarming to? I heard about it from my sister-in-law and checked out a class at the Y. In my first class, the time flew by, 60 minutes seemed like 5! I stuck around for the next class and make sure I go regularly.
Seriously, and I got to shake my old booty and for a few minutes felt hip, not that my hips were too big or I was a pretender on the dance floor. As I said to another friend, who’s a pediatric physician and professor, hey, this class is one way us menopausal girls can feel “hot” and I don’t mean from hot flashes.
I love to dance, and unfortunately, don’t have as many opportunities as I used to. It makes you feel great, lively and wakes up all those feel good endorphins. The beat of the music makes you want to move it!
I can keep up, work up a sweat and move it, shake it and bop along. If you haven’t tried Zumba, get your butt off the couch and check it out!
