Let's prevent as many heart attacks as possible! In fact, there are easy things we can do right now to prevent 1 million heart attacks and strokes. I'm excited because my nurse practitioner association, the American Academy of Nurse Practitioners, is partnering with the Be One In A Million Hearts project designed to reduce the number of people having heart attacks and strokes.
As an Individual
- PREVENT heart disease and stroke in your family by UNDERSTANDING the risks
- GET UP and GET ACTIVE by exercising for 30 minutes on most days of the week
- KNOW your ABCS
- Appropriate Aspirin Therapy
- Blood Pressure Control
- Cholesterol Management, and
- Smoking Cessation.
STAY STRONG by eating a heart-healthy diet that is high in fresh fruits and vegetables and low in sodium, saturated and trans fats, and cholesterol.
TAKE CONTROL of your heart health by following your health care provider's instructions for medications treatment.
Next, take the My Life Check assessment from the American Heart Association and the American Stroke Association. This will help you get started toward better health with the Simple 7 plan. It's easy and it's a great way to help your heart be healthy.
Let me know if you sign up and what progress you're making.

Millions of people suffer from heart attacks. Heart diseases are the most widespread cause of death. Everything happens to them because of their way of life and bad habits. If you really want to prolong your life expectancy forget about junk food and bad habits. It is the right way out to remain healthy and happy.
